Decolonisation in action

Kuril & Currawong operate from a foundation of respect and collective action. We prioritise engaging and supporting on projects led by Indigenous people, that have strong outcomes for their ongoing independent and autonomous management of their lands. This includes:

  • Supporting on one of Australia’s first Indigenous-led design of a saltwater protected area, in the seascape of the Yanyuwa peoples

  • Working with Aboriginal Corporations to secure short-term (e.g. grant writing) and long-term (e.g. environmental market-based mechanisms) financial security & autonomy in managing their lands

  • Education and advocacy partnerships that center Aboriginal ontologies, practices, legacies and imaginings for the future

Blue Carbon

We provide ongoing support to Aboriginal land managers and corporations with interest in understanding, communicating and strategising how they may want to engage in Blue Carbon markets.

New approaches

We work under the direct guidance of First Nations managers to translate their needs into new methodologies for planning conservation and management.

Land back

We acknowledge that there are many ways to support Aboriginal people to have greater autonomy around decision made on their lands.
